Labour Pain Service (LPS)
Labour Pain procedures is a program which seeks to minimise labour
pain during normal delivery. The concept of painless delivery is hoped to decrease
the high occurence of caesarean section. Though the C-section operation
is done while the mother is unconscious, the post operative
complications are unavoidable and irritation persists for a
long time. In this project an experienced lady anaesthetist has been appointed as the monitor.
Professor Dr. Schneider, President of the Anaesthesiology Society of Switzerland and
paediatrician Dr. Chandon Chattopadhyay came to
India to visit various hospitals and other medical establishments with the officials
of S. B. Devi Charity Home. They organised seminars in several different hospitals
and planned to continue the LPS programme. This study is currently at the planning
stage and Behala Balananda Brahmachari Hospital has been selected to start this
programme.
